Also called basic product, actual product is a product that can be seen, touched and experienced. When a buyer thinks about a product, the image that first comes to his mind is the actual product. The tangible aspects of an actual product includes the product’s design, style, color, packaging, branding, labeling and anything that can be directly attributed to a product.
That said, the actual product is not just about how it looks and feels. It should also score well on other fronts such as quality and performance. Actual products are made only once the core product has been decided. The actual product should deliver the core benefits the manufacturer wants to offer. For example, if the core product is durability, the actual product should sport a tough exterior to start with and then incorporate other aspects that would make it more durable. Long story short, an actual product is any product that is fit to be sold to the end consumer.
